On Page #5 "In Contact"... It is like the Letter to the Editor format.
There is a two (2) paragraph letter titled; "One More Thing to Keep You Up at Night"
The article is about the "Legacy Bases" still scattered across the Central Pacific from WW-Il.
This small article mentions...
The potential problems with these Islands... "if" they presently do not have adequate security, law enforcement or Military presence in place to protect or defend these Island Airfields from hostile or terrorists' attacks... what could happen?
The points being..
Terrorists or other Countries could seize these Islands and Airfields to use as launching pads against the USA and or the USA's best interests...
Repeating History...
Just as the USA used these "Legacy Bases & Islands" against Japan in WW-II, a Terrorist Organization or another Country could use these Islands against the USA.
I never thought of this...
But with the Military Budget "squeezed flat", how much security do we need on these "Legacy Islands"...???
v/r,
JERRY P. SACK
