I remember one time during a weekend from barracks 578 the west side of the island was just stormy for about 10 minutes and the east side was clear as a bell with no rain in sight. It was an isolated storm that came from the South going North.
Thats interesting, thanks. Thuder storms on midway today, and raining here in the heartland. Would love to be there in a thunder storm. I like being in them if they are not real bad and I am inside high and dry
I only remember one thunder storm while I was there, the AEW operations chief called down to ramp service and told us to fuel up a couple of connies and we said we were worried about fueling with all that lightning going on that night so the shift PO looked at the regs which showed indeed that you don't fuel during a lightning storm, boy did things get testy for awhile, later we barely got a plane fueled in time to make a scheduled barrier flight on time.

Well we got ourselves a "Him-icane" out there named Earl that we are keeping an eye on ..... Other than that isolated scattered thunder showers here or there.
